Microsoft xbox 360 headset not working

After trying the Xbox Adapter on a couple of different laptops and desktops and seeing it works plug-and-play with no issues whatsoever and knowing that it did work on my Dell G5 up to a point, I am really running out of ideas on what to try What I find most unusual is that the adapter is recognized by Windows, it blinks when I press the pairing button and everything seems to be ok, but it still doesn't connect to either one of my 2 Xbox controllers or my LucidSound LS35X headphones, all three of which work perfectly on the Xbox console and on other devices using the adapter.

It seems absurd but I am thinking of trying to reinstall Windows and hope that will fix it. I've avoided doing this so far because absolutely everything works perfect, so I would only be doing it because of this specific issue.
